Pierce Affinity Award

The ISMR administers the Pierce Award in Affinity Technology, which is awarded at each biennial ISMR Affinity Conference.

The only obligation upon the recipient of the Award is the presentation of a lecture describing their work in the area of Affinity Technology. In addition to the recognition, the award carries with it a prize of $2,000 USD, as well as a $700 stipend to assist with the recipient's travel expenses to attend the ISMR Affinity Conference.

The 2005 winner of the Pierce Award in Affinity Technology was Bertrand Seraphin of the CNRS, inventor of the widely-used Tandem Affinity Purification (TAP) technology and founder of Cellzome.

Recipients since inception of award are: Klaus Mosbach (1985), Meir Wilchek (1987), Chris Lowe (1989), Irwin Chaiken (1991), Jerker Porath (1993), Mathias Uhlen/Fred Regnier (1995), Shin Ishii (1997), Mookambeswaran (Viji) Vijayalakshmi (1999), Stellan Hjertan (2001).

Nominations for the Pierce Affinity 2007 Award are now closed. The Pierce Affinity Award Committee members for Affinity 2007 are: Meir Wilchek, Ed Bayer and Gidi Fleminger. Special thanks to Krishna Mallia and Peter Bell (Pierce/ThermoFisher) for making this award possible.

Jerker Porath Award

GE Healthcare (formerly Amersham/Pharmacia Biosciences) - Long time sponsor and host to Jerker Porath Award at Affinity 2005, Uppsala, Sweden

The recipient of this one time award was Mathias Uhlen, Professor of Biotechnology at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm, Sweden.

Hoffmann - La Roche - Long time sponsor and host to Roche Younger Investigator Award

Student participation is a great tradition of the ISMR Affinity Conferences. One aspect of this tradition is the Roche Younger Investigator Award.
All students presenting their work will be automatically considered for these awards. Abstracts received before April 1st, 2007 will be reviewed and considered for short oral presentations. Prizes will be awarded to Younger Investigators selected from both poster and oral presentations
